Skills map: what the semester builds

Honestly framed: this kit is enrichment — logic, patterns, strategy, and problem-solving beyond computation drills. Here is what each block of the 16 weeks actually practices, week by week.

WEEKS 1–3 · CASE FOUNDATIONS

Learning to think like a detective

  • Truth-teller logic, strategy games, and pattern mysteries
  • The Understand / Plan / Solve / Look Back problem-solving frame on every case
  • Persevering through multi-step problems that no single computation can crack
WEEKS 4, 8, 12, 16 · CSI + ESCAPE CAPSTONES

Evidence, elimination, and argument

  • Every CSI case is solved by elimination: claim the culprit, clear suspects clue by clue, justify each rejection in writing
  • Math inside the clues: factors, measurement conversion, multiplication and division, unit rates, exponents, area, percent, equation reasoning
  • Escape rooms: sequences, LCM, ratio scaling, cube nets, signed-number reasoning
WEEKS 5–7 & 9–11 · DEEPENING

Proof, impossibility, and structure

  • Parity and invariant arguments; learning what "prove it's impossible" actually means
  • Division with remainders, LCM, ratio scaling, integer temperature change in the seasonal sets
  • Chessboard-coloring style arguments in the logic classics
WEEKS 13–15 · MYSTERY PICTURES

Computation fluency that checks itself

  • Order of operations, fraction multiplication, exponents, and integer operations
  • Solve-in-order format: each answer is the next dot on the grid — a wrong turn visibly breaks the picture

Arizona reviews purchases for curriculum category, not for standards alignment — and we describe the kit honestly either way: it practices these math standards and habits of mathematical practice (persevering through hard problems, reasoning about structure, constructing arguments from evidence). It is not a replacement for a core math program.

How to order with ESA funds

There is no checkout here — ESA money moves only through ClassWallet, with you as the vendor's approved customer. Three steps:

1

Email us for your invoice

Tell us which product and for which student. We generate a proper invoice with everything ESA requires, including the invoice number and the student's name.

2

Submit it in ClassWallet

Find The Logic League in your ClassWallet vendor directory, start a Direct Pay order, and attach the invoice we sent you.

3

We email your download

Once the ESA specialist approves the order, we send your files — printable PDF, yours to keep, print as needed under your license.

Request an invoice — rfortin@delmarpines.com

Orders are reviewed by ESA specialists; approval is theirs, not ours. Payment reaches us 2–10 business days after approval, and your files go out the same day.

About the teacher behind the curriculum

I'm Ryan Fortin — a California classroom teacher with a Masters of Arts in Teaching and over 15 years in front of real students. The Logic League started as the cases I wrote for my own classroom when the textbook stopped being interesting: mysteries and puzzles that reward thinking instead of speed, every one of them tested with actual kids before it shipped.

As an Arizona ESA approved curriculum vendor, I bring that same bar to homeschool families: genuinely original work, fully worked answer keys, and a parent's guide that assumes you are not a teacher.
